The fruit and vegetables primary production sector is characterised by the following basic features:
  • smaller areas of cultivation compared to the recent past, mainly due to the decoupling of production and financial aid.
  • high dependence on processing companies, which are facing difficulties due to the economic recession (difficulties in obtaining financing, reduced demand, etc), and
  • dependence on weather conditions.
This study was prepared by STOCHASIS Management Consultancy S.A., with a view to describe the current situation of primary to be processed in Greece and in particular, of the processed tomato, clingstone (processed) peaches and the quantity of juiced oranges and examine its prospects, presenting the international market data.
