Starch sugar is a deep processed product widely used as sweetener in food and beverage industries. As the most common starch-based food ingredient by far, starch sugar is good alternatives to sucrose. There are four major types of starch sugars: glucose, maltose, high fructose corn syrup and maltodextrin.

With the rapid development of China’s food industry, especially soft drink and beer industries, the domestic market demand for starch sugar has been growing fast, driving up market prices of starch sugars in the past 10 years. Market prices of starch sugar declined in 2012-2013 due to the oversupply, the weak demand, and the decline price of sucrose. The continuous decrease of market prices of starch sugars has forced more and more enterprise to expand overseas markets, boosting the export volume of starch sugars during these two years. However, the export volume increase couldn’t prevent the domestic market from turning gloomy. And it is predicted that prices of starch sugars will remain stable in a weakly state.

To clearly descript the prices of starch sugars in China in 2013 and give audiences some constructive opinions, CCM has obtained lots of information according by diverse methods. This report presents detailed situation of starch sugar prices and forecast of their trends in 2014.

How is the price of starch sugar change by month in China in 2013? And what factors influence the price trends of starch sugars? What are the opportunities in China’s starch sugar industry?
