In March 2017, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries relaxed regulations regarding organic beekeeping. This should result in the number of organic bee hives increasing by more than fourfold. According to the ministry, the change in regulations will provide more opportunities to produce Danish organic honey. The majority of organic honey sold in Denmark prior to March 2017 was imported. This move has been very well-received by all stakeholders in honey in Denmark.
