The consumption of fresh fish and seafood continued its downwards trend in 2015, falling by 1% on total volume terms. This was due to rising prices, with fresh fish notably seeing unit price increases of around 1% in the year. All areas of fish and seafood, however, saw unit price growth above inflation. Fisch-Informationszentrum (FIZ) attributes price increases to the shift from frozen fish to packaged fresh fish.
