Polyurethanes: Feedstock Price Rises Lose Momentum
24 Nov 2009 • by Natalie Aster
The ongoing series of Europe-wide price increases for polyurethane feedstocks continued into November, but lost a certain amount of dynamism due to increasing seasonal influences and inventory reductions, the newsletter Plastics Information Europe (PIE, Bad Homburg / Germany; www.pieweb.com) says in a report now online.
Pure MDI, with output trimmed to lower demand, remained stable, while polymeric MDI gained EUR 35/t and tight TDI added EUR 50/t. Despite lower costs, polyol producers managed to drive flexible grades up by a further EUR 35/t and rigid grades by EUR 10/t, says PIE.
