PVC market: CMAI sees return to growth after slump
19 Oct 2010 • by Natalie Aster
Following deterioration in 2008 and 2009, market research group Chemical Market Associates expects global PVC demand to “get back on a positive growth track” as the world economy recovers. The research group attributes the current weakness primarily to the fact that expansion projects – mostly in China and most too far along to cancel – met head-on with receding demand.
With growth continuing in China, CMAI says closures will be needed elsewhere to restore balance to the market that is expected to be oversupplied by 4m t in 2014.
