The market for nonwoven fabrics in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region has vast potential for growth especially nonwoven fabrics for use in the manufacture of absorbent hygiene products (AHPs). This has not gone unnoticed, and some high profile companies have been quick to seize the opportunity to supply the market. By contrast, the market for nonwoven fabrics for construction materials and geotextiles in the region a market which, until recently, was considered to be thriving is facing difficulties as a result of falling oil revenues which have led to massive cuts in government spending on infrastructure projects. Also, the region faces other challenges not least social and political instability, terrorism, and ongoing or sporadic civil wars. This report analyses nonwoven fabric production capacities and technologies in the MENA region, and discusses the key players in the industry.
