Segments

The company operates in three business units: Handsets (HBU); Audio & Consumer (ACBU) which includes headsets, PCs and consumer products; and Automotive & Personal Navigation Devices (APBU).

HBU segment

The company, in 2009, launched BC7000, its Bluetooth and FM Receive/Transmit combination chip device. Its Wi-Fi product, UniFi6000, a discrete chip-on-board solution; or CSR9000, a combination product with Bluetooth, FM and Wi-Fi technologies are focused on the handset markets. In 2009, the company started shipping CSR9000 to a Japanese mobile telephone manufacturer in addition to two other customers. This product features micropower SiRFaware and SiRFGeoRecov to enhance location sensitivity and navigation performance and enable the device to be operational quickly after being switched on with minimal battery use.

ACBU segment

Audio and Consumer Business Unit offers headsets, PC and consumer applications. The company offers solutions developed with two Taiwan-based vendors, Realtek and Ralink, who are suppliers of Wi-Fi technology for the PC market. The company also released the Bluetooth Software Development Kits (SDKs) that enable headset manufacturers to build Bluetooth accessories in 2009.

APBU segment

SiRFprima, the company’s high-end System on Chip (SoC) platform combines all the necessary electronic circuits and parts for a complete system and integrates them into a single silicon chip focused on the in-dash automotive market. The company has also achieved design wins with SiRFatlasIV, its entry-level SoC platform for the PND market.

Significant Events

On June 7, 2010, CSR plc announced that it is collaborating with Intel Corporation to jointly develop a Bluetooth and Wi-Fi combination solution for the PC market, as part of CSR's ongoing selective partnership strategy.
