Demand for Ethylene Oxide and Ethylene Glycol to Rise

Global demand for ethylene oxide and ethylene glycol will grow at by 4.52% a year up until 2020, a study has suggested.

According to Research and Markets, demand for ethylene oxide is expected to reach 32.4 million tons in 2020, up from 19.9 million tonnes in 2009.

The ethylene oxide market grew at a compound annual growth rate of 4.43% between 2000 and 2009.

Global demand for ethylene glycol is also forecast to increase at 5.49% a year, rising from 18.93 million tons in 2009 to 34.09 million tons in 2020.

Asian market shares 35% of the global ethylene oxide demand while the share of ethylene glycol is 63%.
