Poor demand causes lower PVC import offers in Egypt

25 Mar 2010 • by Natalie Aster

In Egypt, competitive prices from the local PVC producer EPC and distributors are affecting the already poor demand for imports as buyers prefer to wait in the sidelines before making import purchases as per Chemorbis. This week, import American offers retreated by ten dollars at both ends of the overall price range and were reported at an adjusted range of US$1014-1034/ton CIF Alexandria, cash equivalent basis. A West European PVC offer emerged in the market during this week at the low end of the range and is a more competitive choice compared to the US materials due to its shorter transit time. Meanwhile, in the local market, EPC continues to offer PVC k67-68 at US$1021/ton ex-Alexandria, cash not including VAT basis while locally held offers are at US$1028-1044/ton without VAT on ex-warehouse, cash including VAT basis.
