Xianglu Petrochem to Build ¥743m IPA Plant in China

Xianglu Petrochemical will invest ?743m ($108.75m) to build a new isophthalic acid (IPA) plant.

Construction is due to finish in 2012 with the plant expected to produce 250,000mt of IPA every year.

This investment means Xianglu will be the second-largest aromatic chemicals production group in Taiwan and China after Taiwan's Formosa Chemical & Fibre, according to news.cens.com.

The Xianglu group has also invested ?bn ($1.9bn) to build an 800,000mt PX plant and ?5bn($732.46m) to launch a 1.5 million metric tonne PTA plant, which will begin production in 2011.

Xianglu is a subsidiary of the Taiwanese-invested Xianglu Group.
