Borealis is planning the closure of its 220,000 tpa HDPE plant in Beringen, Belgium. Talks are already underway with local trade unions regarding the loss of 109 jobs.
The company will continue to operate its compounding operation and PP lines at the Beringen site, which currently employs 430 staff. Local media reports suggest that Borealis will not be making a statement about the planned closure until the negotiations with the unions are completed.
