LONDON – China occupies a position of the world’s major production base of consumer electronics. 

The country is a prominent consumer and producer of multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCC).  As of 2014, the country’s MLCC output almost reached 1.64 trillion pieces, an increase by 19 percent from 2013. Competition in the global marketplace is quite fierce, with Murata, Taiyo Yuden, SAMWHA and Yageo being some of the market majors. At present, market participants increasingly focus on smaller products with a larger capacity.

Murata is the world’s top player. Its market share almost hit the 23 percent mark in 2014.
