LONDON – Demand for new energy buses as well as light-duty buses has demonstrated a considerable increase in China. Sales volume of buses (with bus chassis included) almost reached 607,000 vehicles in 2014, a rise by approximately 8.4 percent YoY. A sales volume of new energy buses amounted to 27,000 vehicles in 2014, representing an upturn by 160 percent from 2013.

Plug-in hybrid buses are becoming increasingly popular given their high performance and low prices. As a result, they held the largest share (around 48 percent) in the market for new energy buses.  A sales volume of school buses dropped significantly in 2014, down by 15 percent YoY.
