World & China Memory Industry Analysed by ResearchInChina in In-demand Report Published at MarketPublishers.com

06 Jul 2015 • by Natalie Aster

LONDON – The worldwide memory market evolved at a pace to be envied during 2013-2014 – at 20.5% in 2013 and at 22.1% in 2014, which was the highest growth rate amongst all semiconductor products. In 2015, the memory market is registering only 2.3% growth, with the market size projected to reach the USD 83.8 billion mark by the end of the year. The sluggish growth rate stems from the falling prices of dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) as well as a drop in demand. The memory industry is likely to suffer another recession in 2016, registering a 3.1% decrease.

To date, the majority of the novel technical memories have low capacity, otherwise they may confront bottlenecks of poor reliability and high costs when capacity is increased. Traditional DRAM and NAND are projected to still take a leadership position during 2020-2025, NorFlash or static random access memory (SRAM) may be substituted by novel technologies in the low-capacity memory domain. Spin-transfer torque magnetic random-access memory (STT-MRAM) now moves upward fastest in commercialisation.

IBM, Intel, Samsung, Qualcomm and SK Hynix are engaged in the development of MRAM storage technology whilst Japan’s companies are quite competitive in the area.

In-demand research study “Global and China Memory Industry Report, 2014-2015” created by ResearchInChina provides an up-close look at the memory industry and marketplace worldwide and in China.
