LONDON – The shipment volume of tablets in Taiwan reached close to 28.8 million units in Q4 2014, up 33.5% YoY but down by just under 25% if compared to the previous quarter. Low-cost notebook PCs keep on being the hit throughout 2015, and are deemed to be the unfavourable factor for tablets, eroding their share. As such, notebook PC brands mull over rolling out leastwise 7 to 8 models priced at USD 299 or lower with 10-inch, 11-inch, 13-inch and 14-inch screen sizes. This is projected to push the average selling price (ASP) of notebook PCs further downwards, specifically threatening large-screen and 2-in-1 tablets, as they usually more expensive.
