Nordic Semiconductor ASA Expands British Distribution Network According to BAC Report

LONDON – Earlier in November Nordic Semiconductor announced its partnership agreement with IO Components Limited, British distributor of electronic components. IO Components will engage into sales of all Nordic’s Bluetooth Smart, ISM band transceivers, ANT+ wireless technologies and supporting solutions. IO Components offers not only distribution services, but alsi is ready to become a contract manufacturer and tester of Nordic products on British and Irish market. The U.K. and Ireland comprise important markets for Nordic; the company admits that the newly signed agreement will greatly improve its performance in European region.

Being financially insufficient during 2012, Nordic Semiconductor needs to implement new ways of boosting its sales. Financial results for the year 2012 reveal revenue decline by 5.2% to USD 131.8 M, gross profit increase of 2.9% to USD 66.6 M, operating and net income decrease by 8.4% and 6.9% to USD 23.9 M and USD 17.6 M. Latest quarterly results state an improvement in numbers. For the period ended September 2013, revenue and gross profit comprised USD 35.4 M and USD 17.2 M, respectively. Operating and net income amounted to USD 5.5 M and USD 4 M, respectively. PC accessories remain the main revenue-generating segment, bringing 54% of the total amount. Mobile devices segment contributes 21%, Installed Sensor networks add 10%, ASIC components and Home electronic devices make 9% and 6% of the total revenue amount.
