Lenzing AG Fibers Win Championship Titles According to BAC Report

LONDON – Two Lenzing fibers - Lenzing FR® and TENCEL® - helped firefighter Herbert Krenn and police officer Gottfried Post to become champions of World Police & Fire Games 2011. The event is held in New York every year since 1985, and it is the largest world sports event after the Olympic Games. 70 types of athletic competitions are taken by 16000 participants from public safety organizations. Lenzing was a sponsor of Gottfried Post and Herbert Krenn in 2011, and the participants both won gold medals.
In their interviews, both men praised fibers their clothing was made of. Krenn marked out skin-friendliness, high flame resistance, perspiration protection, good moisture management qualities of Lenzing FR®. Post noticed low bacterial growth, moisture management, skin-friendliness as main merits of TENCEL®.
Lenzing FR® and TENCEL® are Lenzing AG specially developed fibers. The former is a superior flame-resistant fiber for special clothing applications. The latter is a cellulosic functional fiber which finds its use in many end products from professional clothing corporate fashion, uniforms and food service industry.
Company’s financial performance is stable, with no significant fluctuations in the last quarters. Q3 brought a slight decrease in financials comparing to Q2 due to global economic slowdown. While developed markets like Europe or North America don’t promise any good trends, emerging markets are predicted to further expand and develop. China remains main target market with its rapidly growing world largest fiber sales market (9.5% projected in 2011). Indian market is right behind China, having 7.8% growth forecast.
FY 2010 was a year of recovery for Lenzing. Revenue increased by 44.1% and amounted to EUR 1805.1 M, net income went up by 147% reaching EUR 159.1 M. Given Lenzing expanding operations in China, the company has a positive forecast for the following years.
