Commonly used in agriculture and security, virtual fences can alert or deter intrusions, track positions in real-time, and trigger actions (e.g., alarms, notifications, mild electric stimuli for livestock) when a boundary is crossed. This system offers flexible, cost-effective, and scalable alternatives to traditional fencing, especially in large, remote, or environmentally sensitive areas.

Virtual fence systems will continue to develop toward higher positioning accuracy, real-time monitoring, and intelligent management. Technologies such as GNSS, BeiDou, UWB, Bluetooth, cellular communication, satellite IoT, and edge computing will be increasingly integrated to improve location recognition and boundary detection in applications such as livestock farming, logistics parks, industrial sites, urban roads, drone supervision, and personnel safety management.
