These points are then fused with carrier navigation data (attitude, position, and time synchronization) to generate high-precision 3D models of seabed topography or underwater assets (pipelines, risers, jackets, submarine cables, foundations, hulls, etc.). These models are used for integrated "surveying + inspection + metrology" operations, providing spatial resolution and detail representation far exceeding that of sonar at close range (especially suitable for identifying and measuring fine defects such as corrosion, pits, welds, and deformation). They also support real-time or near-real-time point cloud generation during ROV/AUV dynamic operations. Application areas cover offshore oil and gas, offshore wind power foundations and submarine cables, underwater structures of ports, waterways and bridges, marine scientific research and habitat monitoring, maritime affairs, and archaeology. The upstream of the industry chain includes lasers and drivers (wavelength/power stability), imaging sensors and optical components (windows, GRIN/collimation, filters, lenses), precision mechanics and pressure-resistant housings/seales, clocks and synchronization modules (PPS/timestamps), and navigation and positioning sensors (IMU/INS, DVL, acoustic positioning, SVP/CTD, etc.); the midstream provides OEMs with opto-mechatronics design, pressure resistance and heat dissipation, calibration, point cloud generation and filtering/registration algorithms, and measurement/modeling software; the downstream segment consists of platform integrators. Gross profit margin is approximately 30%–55%.
