Orascom is one of the most diverse telecoms players to come out of the emerging markets. With a keen eye on value, it is experienced at entering and exiting markets, and is good at delivering high returns for its stakeholders. Financially it has been hit hard by unfavourable exchange rate fluctuations, but it has managed to maintain its margins via cost-reduction programmes. Orascom is well positioned for future subscriber growth, with good growth still achievable in many of its more developed markets and its new markets growing quickly.
