This report considers the implications of recent changes at BT Global Services (BTGS) for its IT services business in the UK public sector. BTGS will be a major force in the UK public sector for the foreseeable future. BT is one of the strongest brand names in the UK public sector thanks to its significant fixed-line telecoms business and its large IT services business, which is the fourth-largest by turnover in the UK public sector. BTGS is a top-ten provider in each of the public sector’s six segments (central government, local government, criminal justice, defence, education and health). It has a strong networked IT services business and a reputation for providing network outsourcing and IT services in end-to-end outsourcing deals to UK public sector customers.
