Banking, asset management and research are concentrated in the city. Naturally, the city's industrial make-up is strongly biased towards services, generating 85% of its total GVA in 2012 - one of the most pronounced shares among the world's major cities. In 2012 Geneva accounted for 8% of Switzerland's GDP and was home to 461,000 people.
