Dubai, a renowned global business and tourist destination, saw its population double to 5.1 million over 2007-2012. Following the bailout by Abu Dhabi in 2009, Dubai concentrated on trade and tourism to ensure recovery and future growth. The city concentrates most of the UAE's wealthy households - 58% of the country's households with income over US$100,000 reside in Dubai. The city continues to strive for competitiveness, as evidenced by building the world's largest airport and tallest building.
