Abstracts

The implementation of the new medical reform as well as the launch of Project of Developing Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry stressed the backup and promotion of traditional Chinese medicine industry from the Chinese government. More than that, traditional Chinese medicine coincidentally caters to the international trend of “Green”. The gross output of traditional Chinese medicine industry has long been growing at a pace faster than the average rate of the whole pharmaceutical industry. By November 2009, the cumulative sales value of traditional Chinese medicine industry amounted to RMB 222.166 billion. Nonetheless, traditional Chinese medicine industry is confronted with various challenges such as the imperfect system, weak industrialization capacity etc. On the basis of analyzing the production, trading and marketing as well as financial information of year 2009, this report probes into and makes prediction about the future development of traditional Chinese medicine industry.
