Applications include PEM electrolyzers, proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells and regenerative fuel cells, filtration of highly corrosive chemical liquids and gases, high-purity filtration for pharmaceuticals and semiconductors, electrode substrates for electrochemical reactors, filtration systems for seawater desalination and chlor-alkali processes, aerospace thermal management and filtration components, as well as porous support materials for certain medical implants and tissue engineering. The upstream supply chain primarily comprises titanium sponge, titanium ingots, TA1/Gr.1 or Gr.2 titanium wire and strip, high-purity titanium raw materials, vacuum sintering furnaces, calendering equipment, cutting equipment, coating materials, and platinum (a precious metal). The midstream sector involves titanium fiber preparation, web laying, calendering, vacuum sintering, pickling/cleaning, leveling, punching/cutting, and surface functionalization. The downstream sector connects to manufacturers of PEM electrolyzer stacks, hydrogen energy equipment enterprises, fuel cell companies, chemical filtration equipment manufacturers, electrochemical equipment enterprises, and high-end filtration system integrators.
