VIETNAM FISHERY INDUSTRY

The global aquaculture production and fishing volume grew at a CAGR of 2.78%/ year during the period of 2009 – 2017e. In 2017, the demand for fishery products tended to rise, leading to an increase in the total import volume. Asia was the region with the largest seafood export value in the world in 2016, accounting for 38.9% of the total export value of the global seafood industry.

In Q4/2019, Vietnam’s seafood production was estimated to increase xx% over the same period last year, of which fish rose by xx%; shrimp increased by xx%; other seafood increased by xx%. The Aquaculture production in Q4/2019 was estimated to increase by xx% over the same period last year. Fishery production in Q4/2019 was estimated to increase by xx% over the same period last year.

Vietnam has become a leading fishery producer and exporter in the region, along with Indonesia and Thailand. Exporting fishery become one of the most important fields of the national economy. According to the statistics of the General Department of Customs, in generally for Q4/2019, Vietnam’s seafood export is estimated to increase by xx% compared to the same period in 2018, in particular, it increased strongly in September 2019 with increase compared to same period 2018.

In 2018, in general, the fishery industry has prospered compared to 2017 due to favorable weather. Besides, exports of commodities such as pangasius and shrimp in 2018 were favorable, making the business situation of businesses more optimistic in 2018.
