Advanced cellulosic ethanol, due to acid-base pretreatment, enzymatic hydrolysis, and concentration steps, further increases energy consumption by 8-10 percentage points, resulting in a minimum production cost that is still 20-25% higher than corn ethanol. For biodiesel, waste oil routes account for 70% of raw materials, refining and methanol transesterification for 15%, and the byproduct glycerol can reduce net costs by 10-12% after deduction; however, unstable raw material supply and logistical limitations remain key to profitability.
