In the past 10 yeas, with the rapid development of ethylene industry in China, the capacity and output of 1,3-butadiene also witnesses a quick increase. The capacity of 1,3-butadiene in China accounts about 19% of the total global capacity in 2010. China becomes one of the largest producers of 1,3-butadiene in the world.

The main applications of 1,3-butadiene are PBD rubber, SBR, ABS resin, SBS and NBR in China. With strong demand of downstream industry, the consumption of 1,3-butadiene also increased quickly in the past 10 years and 1,3-butadiene is still in short supply in China.
