These modules receive electrical pulses from single-photon detectors such as SPADs, PMTs, MCP-PMTs, SNSPDs and SiPMs, and process the signals through time-correlated single-photon counting, time tagging, time-to-digital conversion, time-tagged time-resolved acquisition, histogramming, coincidence counting, correlation analysis and multi-channel scaling. Key specifications include timing resolution, timing jitter, dead time, maximum count rate, number of input channels, synchronization capability, input signal compatibility, data throughput, hardware interface and software/API support. They are mainly used in fluorescence lifetime measurement, FLIM, time-resolved spectroscopy, quantum optics, quantum communication, single-photon LiDAR, satellite laser ranging, detector characterization and advanced photonic testing.
