Demand is primarily pulled by semiconductor thin-film deposition, where titanium and Ti-based layers are widely used and the industry increasingly tightens requirements on particle defects, film stability, and contamination control, making low-interstitial, ultra-high purity titanium more valuable in sputtering-target and related supply chains. Suppliers explicitly position their high-purity/low-oxygen titanium toward semiconductor and high-end vacuum deposition applications, reinforcing the structural demand driver from advanced-node manufacturing and packaging.

The key barrier is not producing titanium itself, but keeping oxygen and other interstitials consistently low across lots. Titanium is highly reactive with oxygen, so melting, handling, and downstream processing can easily increase O content unless strict vacuum/inert control, clean equipment, and robust process monitoring are in place.
