This is the comprehensive research on SMEs in Armenia. The research is based on secondary and primary data. Primary data were collected during a survey of more than 1000 SMEs in Armenia (focus on SMEs in 4 cities). The purpose of the research is to describe current state of SMEs by sectors, size and regions in Armenia, recent assessment of economic performance of SMEs, expectations of SMEs for their development in short and mid-term periods, understand main barriers and prerequisites for their development.

This research:
  • describes current structure of SME sector in Armenia by size, regions, industries
  • describes recent investments of SMEs into fixed assets and innovations,
  • evaluates the potential, risks and barriers of further development,
  • analyses expectations on future development of SMEs, new projects planned
  • includes comparisons with the trends of other countries,
