HEADLINE

According to the ICAMA, Xingyu Chemical has been approved to register guadipyr for the first time in China, indicating that a new neonicotinoid insecticide safe to bees is to enter the Chinese market. This new product is expected to enjoy strong competitiveness and great market potential.

In Feb. 2017, the Zhejiang Crop Protection Industry Association issued the 2016 statistics on provincial output, sales, exports and economic performance of pesticide industry.

In early 2017, China released the Catalogue of Key Products and Services in Strategic Emerging Industries (2016), which listed biopesticides as one of the key products. With the favourable national policies currently in place, the biopesticide business may attract increasing attention and investments, and therefore is expected to develop rapidly in the near future.

As the agricultural supply-side reform has moved deeper, Chinese pesticide enterprises have taken various actions to deal with changes in the industry, such as M&A. Between late 2016 to Feb. 2017, there were 6 deals made or to-be-made, total costs given at USD2.92 billion+ (RMB20.00 billion).

On 21 Jan., 2017, Shenghua Biok disclosed its plan to sell the 100% stake in its wholly-owned subsidiary Inner Mongolia BIOK. In fact, impacted by the stagnant pesticide market, many pesticide enterprises have suffered great financial declines or even losses in recent years, and have therefore been sold by their parent companies.

On 16 Feb., 2017, Jiangsu Tuoqiu disclosed that it would purchase 100% of shares in Jiangsu Tuopuli at USD3.11 million (RMB21.35 million).

From Jan. to Nov. 2016, China's export volume of fipronil TC surged, while the corresponding export price slid, according to China Custom and CCM.

In Jan. 2017, DuPont finally obtained registrations for triflumezopyrim in China, according to the ICAMA. As an outstanding insecticide against rice plant hoppers, triflumezopyrim is expected to enjoy great prospects in this market.

According to ICAMA, a total seven registration certificates for insecticide technical were issued in China, of which six were five-year official registrations and one was one-year temporary registration.

The NATESC predicted in Jan. 2017 that pests and diseases may strike heavily in China in the year 2017, with a national total occurrence area of 346.67 million ha (5.20 billion mu).
