Brazil does not produce or use paraquat, and the active ingredient is prohibited from import since 22 Sept., affected by which, China's export order of diquat, one of the substitute of paraquat, increased. Some diquat producers are raising the price due to growing demand.

According to the office of the leading team of chemical industry safety and environmental protection rectification and upgrading of Xiangshui County, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, Xiangshui Zhongshan's application for work resumption of 8 production lines including 30,000 t/a atrazine, 3000 t/a mesotrione, 3,000 t/a bentazone, 10,000 t/a ametryn, 8,000 t/a prometryn, 3,000 t/a terbutryn, 2,000 t/a simetryn and 26,769 t/a sodium thiomethoxide has passed first review of the Management Committee of Xiangshui Ecological Chemical Park and county-level acceptance, and it is qualified to be summit for municipal review. Whether these 8 production lines can resume operation depends on if they can pass municipal review.
South Chemical, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nutrichem, has signed the Agreement on Compensation for Exiting of Xiangshui Ecological Chemical Park with the Management Committee of the Park. The Management Committee agreed to compensate South Chemical for exiting, which means that South Chemical will exit Xiangshui Ecological Chemical Park.
In early-Oct., FAO officially issued the updated standard for 2,4-D TC. This new standard was updated by Jiangxi Tianyu, Industry Task Force II on 2,4-D Research Data of the US and 2,4-D Annex III Task Force of EU, and the joint application for updating passed the assessment of FAO's experts. Jiangxi Tianyu's participation in making the new FAO standard for 2,4-D TC changes China's manufacturer from a follower to a leader in international market and helps improve the quality level of China's 2,4-D industry.
Shandong Huayang intends to build a 10,000 t/a bis(trichloromethyl)carbonate project in its old production plant. Bis(trichloromethyl)carbonate can used to produce carbamate pesticides and urea herbicides as well as synthesize herbicides. Shandong Huayang stated that there is a big gap on the bis(trichloromethyl)carbonate market, and the gap is widening. Therefore it decided to build the project to satisfy market demand and further improve its competitiveness.
Jilin Lvsheng's production facilities of 3,000 t/a ametryn TC, 1,500 t/a prometryn TC, 500 t/a simetryn TC, 500 t/a terbutryn TC and 300 t/a cybutryne TC as well as supporting environmental protection facilities that have completed construction passed self-acceptance check of environmental protection. It is easily found from China's current pesticide market condition and its development trend that the market domination will return to the upstream TC producers, and the pricing power and advantage in games will be grasped by the upstream in the future. Therefore Jilin Lvsheng's addition of ametryn TC, prometryn TC, simetryn TC, terbutryn TC and cybutryne TC capacities based on its current ones will help it become more advantageous in future competition.
On 11 Oct., the China Crop Protection Industry Association released the 2019 Top 30 Pesticide Exporters (by export value) in China, and Weifang Rainbow ranked top 1 in the list. With the abilities of synthesizing multiple TC products and processing multiple formulation products in crop protection fields including herbicides, fungicides and insecticides, major herbicide products of Weifang Rainbow are glyphosate, 2,4-D and paraquat. Weifang Rainbow's exports of glyphosate, 2,4-D and paraquat will be introduced in this article.
At the end of Sept., ICAMA publicized the information about 92 pesticide products of which the registration certificates to be approved, including 2 flumioxazin formulations such as s-metolachlor·flumioxazin 52% SC and flumioxazin·glufosinate-ammonium 66% SC from Shandong Binnong.
Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Economy and Information Technology Department of Zhejiang Province, Department of Ecology and Environment of Zhejiang Province and Emergency Management Department of Zhejiang Province jointly issued the Working Plan for Accelerating Pollution Prevention and Control and Green Development of Chemical Industry in the Yangtze River Economic Belt of Zhejiang Province (Plan) that will take effect on 25 Oct., 2020. The Plan includes 13 key tasks in 4 fields such as optimizing industrial distribution, upgrading development level of chemical park, strengthening industrial transformation of clean production as well as reinforcing supervision on chemical industry.
