Iogen Cellulosic Ethanol Production Doubles
18 Jan 2010 • by Natalie Aster
Canadian biotechnology company Iogen Corporation said it produced 581,000l of cellulosic ethanol in 2009, more than double its fuel production in 2008.
Iogen's production in 2009 also surpassed the one million litre mark in cumulative production since 2004.
A renewable and advanced biofuel, cellulosic ethanol is used in cars, and effectively reduces greenhouse gas emissions in transport by up to 90% compared to gasoline.
Iogen CEO Brian Foody said the company, which has been operating its demonstration facility since 2004, will continue to lead in the dynamic cellulosic ethanol industry.
