SMC Announces Price Increases of Sodium Hypophosphite

Special Materials Company is increasing prices of sodium hypophosphite (all grades) approximately 15% in response to cost pressures from rapidly rising yellow phosphorus prices and the sales imbalance between sodium hypophosphite and its co-products. The increases will be effective 1 January 2010 or as allowed by contract.
Product Manager David Graham states, "These price adjustments are necessary to manage what has become a very cost sensitive market as these products have migrated from "specialty” to "commodity” price points. We can see continued price volatility in the products and will be offering our customer base commercial tools to help manage it.”
