Evonik: Price Increases for Methacrylate Monomers

The performance polymers business unit of Evonik Industries (Essen / Germany; www.evonik.com) is to raise the prices of its “Visiomer” methacrylate monomers with immediate effect. The price for methyl methacrylate will rise by EUR 60/t in Europe and by USD 85/t in the rest of the world excluding the NAFTA region.

The company also announced price increases for methacrylic acid, butyl methacrylate, methacrylamide, hydroxy esters and specialty esters. Evonik said that price rises were the result of “very short and massive” increases in raw material costs.
