Lubrizol Answers the Increasing Demand for Specialty TPU in China and Asia Pacific Estane® TPU Plant Expansion Underway

CLEVELAND, OH and SHANGHAI, CHINA -- Lubrizol Specialty Chemicals Manufacturing (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of The Lubrizol Corporation (NYSE: LZ), has expanded it manufacturing facility in the Song Jiang Industrial Zone near Shanghai, China to meet the growing demand for specialty thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) in this region. Lubrizol high- performance TPUs are sold under the Estane® trade name.

Lubrizol has invested significantly to double the manufacturing capacity at the Song Jiang plant. Construction is well underway, with expected completion by the summer of 2008. Additional land has been reserved for future expansions.

The Song Jiang facility is the first multinational TPU manufacturing facility in China featuring state-of-the-art processing technology. Therefore, all Estane TPU manufactured at this location is of the highest quality to meet customers' needs.

"Two or three month planning cycles are generally required when our Estane TPU is imported from Europe or the United States. By building the manufacturing facility closer to our customers, we are able to drastically reduce lead time and provide our customers faster turnaround time, thus increasing their success," says Timothy Madden, business director of Lubrizol's Estane Engineered Polymers business - Asia Pacific.
