ENGEL at the CHINAPLAS

21 Mar 2008 • by Natalie Aster

Innovative and economical injection moulding system solutions have made ENGEL the global market leader in this sector. ENGEL will once again be proving its system competence at the CHINAPLAS in Shanghai/China from the 17th to 20th April 2008 (Hall W1 / Booth W1D31). In addition to presenting one of the fastest In-Mould-Labelling systems on the market on a speed 180/55, ENGEL will also be displaying an e-motion 310/180 T with a 256-cavity LIM mould from Elmet. Further exhibitions at the CHINAPLAS will include a duo 3550/650 with an ENGEL ERC 63 robot and the new ENGEL e-max 100.

Systematic turnkey solutions. That is what ENGEL offers its customers. Integrated system solutions mean all-round injection moulding technology. Machine, automation, process, training and service are all perfectly integrated with ENGEL. The main competitive advantages of ENGEL injection moulding machines are presented once again by the Schwertberg-based machine manufacturer at the current CHINAPLAS in Shanghai. A good example is the exhibited speed 180/55 with one of the fastest In-Mould-Labelling systems on the market. The machine with a clamping force of 1,800 kN will be producing round cups with an original product seal while at the same time decorating the cups using In-Mould Labelling (IML). With a cycle time of less than 3.5 seconds, the machine achieves an output of over 2000 cups per hour. The 2-cavity mould was produced by Otto Hofstetter AG, Uznach/Switzerland; the high-speed parts removal robot is by Beck Automation, Oberengstringen/Switzerland, and the polypropylene used, Moplen EPV648V, is by Basell.

256-cavity mould for production of LIM parts on an ENGEL e-motion

Electrical injection moulding machines are the modern alternative to machines with hydraulic drive technology. They have now been part of the ENGEL portfolio for 10 years. The drive technology with servo motors offers extraordinary precision levels with low energy input. ENGEL is displaying an e-motion 310/180 T LIM with a 256-cavity mould from Elmet for the production of cable end sleeves made of liquid silicone at the CHINAPLAS - including a part removal unit and cold runner block. This machine enables a fully automated, waste-free and flash-less production.

ENGEL e-max

Another highlight in the field of electrical machines is the ENGEL e-max. The e-max is fully-electric and compact, extremely economical - and equipped with the critical options that help customers optimise injection moulding. The portfolio of fully electric machines has been appropriately expanded with the ENGEL e-max. With a consistently compact machine concept focussing on the essentials, a machine has been developed with the advantages of fully electric machines at the price level of comparable hydraulic machines. ENGEL will be presenting an e-max 100 for production of a mobile telephone case component at the CHINAPLAS.

ENGEL duo series twin-platen large-scale machines

To demonstrate the performance of its large-scale machines, ENGEL will be exhibiting the ENGEL duo with a twin-platen clamping unit. This range includes injection moulding machines with clamping forces between 6,000 and 50,000 kN. ENGEL's new large-scale machine facility in Shanghai began production of duo large-scale machines early in 2007. This step in the Asian economic region has helped Engel to apply its concept of the "world machine" to large-scale machines, which are now also produced in the USA and in China, as well as at Engel's headquarters in Austria. On display - an ENGEL duo 3550/650 with 6,500 kN clamping force made in Shanghai - equipped with an ERC 63 linear robot for production of an automotive component.
