China Electrolytic Copper Output Volume to Keep on Moving Forward, Expects CRI in Its In-demand Report Available at MarketPublishers.com

12 May 2017 • by Natalie Aster

LONDON – China's manufacturing industries have begun developing at a rapid rate since the country became a member of the WTO. The demand for electrolytic copper is increasing on a daily basis, which gives a boost to the manufacturing capacity and output volume of the material. By 2016-end, the manufacturing capacity of refined copper stood at 10.80 million tonnes, double the data as of 2006. The rapid growth in the smelting production capacity increases the local production of electrolytic copper by volume. The output volume of electrolytic copper grew to 8.436 million tonnes in 2016, at a CAGR of 11.2% from 2006 to 2016.

China mainly relies on raw material import as the biggest consumer of copper. The volume of copper imported has increased at a fast pace in the recent past. Nevertheless, the level of self-support of electrolytic copper continues to post rapid growth, too. Unlike other metal smelting industries, the manufacturing capacity of copper smelting is not in surplus supply. In fact, the supply does not satisfy the demand. Electrolytic copper is primarily imported to satisfy the Chinese demand. As of 2016, China imported close to 3.629 million tonnes of refined copper, which is a bit lower compared to that in 2015.

In the foreseeable future, the output volume of electrolytic copper is expected to continue to gather traction, whilst the import volume is set to decrease.
