LONDON – Globally, the beer market is expected to witness healthy growth at a 2.4% CAGR in the coming years to reach the USD 636 billion by 2020.
As of 2015, the market value stood at USD 566.6 billion. In 2015, the world’s beer market experienced an uptake by 2%, while in 2014 – only by 1%. Low growth rates are attributed to a slump in consumption of beer in the five key beer markets, namely China, the US, Russia, Germany and Brazil.
As of 2016, the global beer market was dominated by two absolute leaders such as Budweiser and Bud Light.
India is amid the five leading markets in the APAC region. Four prominent global payers (Heineken, Budweiser, SABMiller and Carlsberg) together capture a share of nearly 86% of the country’s market. During 2011 – 2015, the Indian beer market registered exponential growth, increasing from 468 million liters to over 2.36 billion liters; and it is expected to surpass 430 billion by end-2017.
