Cocoa Beans to Lead Chinese Real & Compound Chocolate Market, Says Market Research Future in New Report Available at MarketPublishers.com

11 Apr 2017 • by Natalie Aster

LONDON – There has been a continuous demand increase in the Chinese market for real and compound chocolate over the recent years. This marketplace is set to surpass the 340,240 tonnes mark by 2029, with its CAGR being just under 6%. This growth stemmed from the inclusion of health ingredients.

The largest portion of chocolate produced in the country is not used directly by end-users; it is mostly consumed as an ingredient of other food products, such as cakes, biscuits, and more. So, compound chocolate ruled the Chinese marketplace in terms of volume as of 2015.

Cocoa beans are set to dominate the Chinese market (in terms of type). This segment is forecast to overcome the 64,127 tonnes market by 2022, showcasing a 6.6% CAGR.

Still, cocoa paste is likely to be the swiftest growing segment (registering a 6.7% CAGR), with its volume expected to amount to approximately 34,450 tonnes by 2022.

Milk chocolate in the number one player in the local space, and its volume is predicted to amount to more than 68,520 tonnes by 2022, with its CAGR being around 6.3%. However, it may be dethroned in future, as dark chocolate gains momentum. This segment is forecast to grow at a CAGR of more than 5% to almost hit 64,745 tonnes.

Puratos Group, Mars, Hershey and Nestle SA are some of the largest players in the country.
