Rohto Pharmaceutical Dominates Japan Eye Care Market, According to Euromonitor Report Now Available at MarketPubloshers.com

LONDON – As of 2014, current value growth of the Japanese eye care marketplace is estimated to be 4% thanks to significant growth (11%) that has taken place in the allergy eye care segment. Growth of the segment was caused by pollen in spring. Still the market is dominated by the standard eye care segment which holds a share of 87% of the total sales in terms of value. This segment has also showed 3% increase this year thanks to hybrid products that are expensive.
Rohto Pharmaceutical did not leave its position of the market leader in 2016. It holds a share of 42% of value sales, up by 2% from 2015.
Manufacturers have a number of concerns, and shift from eye drops to such products as disposable hot steam eye masks among young people is one of major ones.
To retain younger consumers, manufacturers take certain steps like the launch of an advertising campaign with a famous actor.
The Japanese eye care marketplace is set to showcase a 1% CAGR at constant 2016 prices in the offing. Its sales are forecast to total JPY 81 billion in 2021. Pollen levels will continue to have large impact on the eye care market in the coming years.
