LONDON – The amount of revenue made through telecommunications services in Cameroon is expected to stand at USD 1.2 billion by 2016-end, and it is forecast to grow registering a 10.3% CAGR up to 2020. This growth will likely be driven by the increasing consumption of mobile voice and data services resulting in an upsurge in mobile revenue. By 2020-end, 85.7% of the overall service revenue is anticipated to stem from mobile services.

In the years to come, it is necessary for operators to take advantage of opportunities pertaining to 3G and 4G network expansions by rolling out affordable bundles and over-the-top (OTT) content to boost soaring demand for data in the marketplace. Network vendors can possibly benefit by positioning themselves to support operators' plans to extend the coverage of their 3G and 4G networks.

The top 2 operators, MTN Cameroon and Orange Cameroon, both providing mobile voice and data services, are projected to capture 70.8% of total service revenue by end-2016.
