LONDON – As of 2015, revenue of the Salvadorian market for telecom and pay-TV services stood at more than USD 1.09 billion or 4.5 percent of GDP. This market is the third smallest market in Latin America, with Bolivia and Nicaragua being in the second and third position, respectively. They are expected to continue growing at a relatively low rate of 1.2 percent over the period 2015-2020 to reach 9.7 million in 2020. This growth will be mainly encouraged by first-time subscribers attracted by mobile operators.

Commercial launch has not yet taken place in the country, making El Salvador one of few Latin American countries where it has not happened yet.

Local broadband lines amounted to more than 361,900 at year-end 2015. El Salvador is amongst the few countries in Latin America that do not have a national broadband plan in place. Broadband lines in the country are expected to grow at a CAGR of 9.3 percent over the period 2015-2020.
