Norway Cards & Payments Industry Examined in New Timetric Report Now Available at MarketPublishers.com

11 Feb 2016 • by Natalie Aster

LONDON – At present, the contactless technology continues to develop in Norway. There are only several banks that offer contactless cards: Svenska Handelsbanken, Danske Bank and DNB Bank.

To deepen their footprints in the marketplace, banks focus on differentiating their product offerings - they introduce new features. For instance, one of the banks intends to rollout contactless cards that feature integrated fingerprint sensors for higher security.

Emergence of payment options (e.g. MeaWallet, Seqr, etc.) has led to slow but gradual uptake of alternative payments amongst local users.

In the meantime, solution providers have initiated to offer terminals at a lower price in order to increase the mobile POS’ uptake amid small merchants. Two solutions (namely Pro and Lite) were introduced by iZettle in 2015. The first one is available at a slightly under USD 120, while the second one is offered free of charge.
