CMOS Camera Module Sector Globally & in China Discussed in Topical ResearchInChina Report Available at MarketPublishers.com

11 Feb 2016 • by Natalie Aster

LONDON – In 2015, the size of the global CMOS camera module CCM market grew 3.8% YoY to reach USD 16.247 billion. The growth rate will likely keep on decelerating through 2016, only 1.3%, but recover slightly to 1.6% in 2017 with the market size reaching USD 16.732 billion. A number of reasons for this slowdown include, among others, high deflation rates leading to a great depreciation of the currencies like South Korean won, Japanese yen and the New Taiwan dollar. Furthermore, the mobile phone market is near saturation point; the market for smartphones will also likely become idle or begin declining through 2016. Additionally, the competition was fierce, particularly that in China’s mainland market. In spite of ongoing upgrading of CCM pixel, the ASP didn’t increase but drop down. As an increasing number of vendors come into the CCM market with OIS and high-performance alternative frequency (AF), a slump in prices is unavoidable.

In the CMOS image sensor (CIS) universe, shipments are poised to reach 4,390 million units in 2016, up 4.6% YoY. The market size is forecast to stand at USD 9.628 billion in 2016, a YoY upsurge of 5.1%, in comparison with an annual rise of 10.7% in 2014.

Largan Precision still stood out from others in the lens domain with high-speed growth, whilst other vendors almost all experienced a failure in the lens business, apart from the vendors engaged in the automotive lens business which saw significant growth in this very domain, though with a low ASP. Sunny Optical still gained the lead globally in the automotive lens sector; Kantatsu, Sharp’s subsidiary, found its way into the supply chain of Apple with high performance growth.

Topical research report “Global and China CCM (CMOS Camera Module) Industry Report, 2015” drawn up by ResearchInChina examines the CMOS camera module industry and market on a global scale and in China. It offers a comprehensive overview of the CMOS image sensor industry and market; delves deep into the optical lens industry and market; pinpoints and canvasses the technological trends of CCM. Furthermore, the market research study provides an exhaustive investigation of the competitive landscape, along with profiling the 7 CIS vendors, 15 lens vendors and 23 CCM vendors.
