LONDON – As of 2014, Italian high net worth individuals (HNWIs) held USD 419.5 billion (38.2%) of their wealth outside their homeland, which is far higher than the global average of 20–30%. By 2019, foreign asset holdings are set to amount to USD 587.1 billion, capturing 40.2% of overall HNWI assets. North America grabbed 36.8% of total foreign assets of the country’s HNWIs as of 2014; this was followed by Europe (29.5%), South America (15.1%), the Asia-Pacific (13.8%), the Middle East (2.7%) and Africa (2.1%).

As against other regions, the allocations of Italian HNWIs to Europe dropped sharply from 57.7% in 2010 to 29.5% in 2014. Americas were the emerging regions when it came to global investments.
