LONDON – The value of production of tanning extracts of vegetable origin in EU27 reached around EUR 62.2 million, recording a 109.7% YoY growth rate. In the same year, the production volume stood at 25,115 tonnes, posting a 110.6% YoY growth. Italy was the leading producer of tanning extracts of vegetable origin. The country’s volume of production reached 16,968 tonnes as of 2013, representing just over 67.5% of the region’s total production. Whilst the nation’s production value was estimated at around EUR 36.71 million in the same year.

In terms of the region’s consumption of tanning extracts of vegetable origin, so it stood at 48,533 tonnes in 2013. Italy was the dominant consumer of the product, capturing a share of 63% in the same year. The country was also the largest exporter and importer of tanning extracts of vegetable origin in 2013.

Going forward, in terms of volume, the production of tanning extracts of vegetable origin in EU27 will likely reach 30,000 tonnes by 2019-end; while consumption is set to reach 55,000 tonnes.
