In December 2011, China’s National Energy Bureau (NEB) officially released the 12th five-year Coalbed Methane’s development and utilisation plan, setting a coalbed methane production target by 2015 of 30 billion  cubic meters (bcm), which is 20 times more than relative to 2010. In March 2012, the country’s NEB officially introduced China’s Development Plan for Shale Gas (2011-2015), setting domestic shale gas production target at 6.5 bcm in 2015 and aiming to reach 60-100 bcm by 2020. In January 2013, the Ministry of Land and Resources (MLR) of China awarded 19 shale gas blocks to 16 local businesses. The total cost of investment in these 19 blocks is expected to be USD 2.06 billion in the first 3 years of exploration.

Organised by GICC group and being in its seventh year, the oncoming event has developed a strategic, timely 3-day programme, with the investment avenues, promotion policies and the exploration & production technologies as pertaining to the shale gas and coalbed methane industry being the primary agenda items.
